The DAG is looking to fill multiple Audit Specialist 1 positions within the Bureau of State and Federal Audits. The Audit Specialist 1 is responsible for supervising an audit team, to perform various assignments to complete the annual audit of the Commonwealth's Basic Financial Statements (BFS) as presented in the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), the annual Single Audit of the Commonwealth, performance audits, or other engagement of Commonwealth agencies.

Essential functions of the position include:

  • The ability to learn, research, and apply laws, regulations, and auditing standards applicable to audits.
  • The ability to learn and administer the policies and procedures of the Department of the Auditor General.
  • The ability to input, access, and/or retrieve data to and from personal computers and/or computer systems.
  • The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with auditees, subordinates, and superiors.
  • The ability to analyze and evaluate accounts and records of auditees.
  • The ability to complete and submit administrative reports within established guidelines.
  • The ability to travel to audit sites or training sessions within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • The ability to move working papers, personal computer, supplies, etc., to and from audit sites.
  • The ability to work independently at times without direct supervision.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with auditees, subordinates, and superiors.
  • The ability to report to work on a regular and reliable basis and to perform job duties at the assigned work site, consistent with the department’s attendance and hours of work policies.
  • The ability to perform on site job training of subordinates and review of work of subordinates.
  • The ability to perform computer and audit procedure training.
  • The ability to be organized.
  • The ability to maintain and accrue knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and methods and their application to private or governmental accounting systems.


  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will be expected to work from home (telework) full-time. This position is headquartered in the Capital Complex Finance Building; however, employees are allowed to participate in the Department's telework program. You must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection to telework. Employees in this position may be required to report to the Harrisburg Headquarters occasionally with only 24 to 48 hours' notice. Employees will not be reimbursed for expenses related to that commute, including mileage, tolls, parking, hotels and meals.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Drivers' License required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
