THE POSITION
The Department of the Auditor General (DAG) is seeking a highly organized and detailed-oriented individual to join the department's Bureau of Fire Relief Audits as an Assistant Director. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Assistant Director of the Bureau of Fire Relief Audits (BFRA), you will assist the Director to oversee BFRA's operations and auditing processes. Employees in the BFRA ensure that Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Associations’ (VFRFAs) funds are spent according to state law. VFRAs are non-profit organizations established to afford financial protection to volunteer firefighters who suffer misfortune as a result of their efforts. VFRAs receive state aid from a two-percent state tax on fire insurance purchased by Pennsylvania residents from insurance companies outside the state. These funds are used to pay for insurance to protect firefighters, purchase fire equipment, and to cover volunteer training expenses. VFRAs are distinctly separate legal entities from fire companies. The Assistant Director will motivate and empower bureau-wide teamwork and act as a mentor for audit managers, supervisors, and staff for professional development.

Requirements
Job Requirements:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Occasional travel required to Harrisburg Finance Building.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Additional Requirements:
- You must reside in Pennsylvania.
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Minimum Education -
- Degree from an accredited college or university with at least 12 credits in accounting/auditing and 2-5 years experience in supervising and performing Audit functions.
- Preferred Qualifications (not required): One or more of the following certificates: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
